Biography
Thembi L. Banks is an American director and writer. She directed an episode of the HBO series Insecure (2020) and wrote an episode of Only Murders in the Building (2021).
Banks is from Harlem, New York. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, majoring in theatre, and holds an MFA from the University of Southern California’s Film and Television Production Program.
Her credits include directing episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Sex Lives of College Girls and other series. She made her feature directorial debut with Young. Wild. Free. (2023), which she also wrote. She received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her work on Only Murders in the Building.
