Biography
Tim Matheson is an American actor and director. Born Timothy Lewis Matthieson on 31 December 1947 in Glendale, California, he began acting as a child and voiced the title character in the animated series Jonny Quest (1964).
Matheson is known for playing Eric 'Otter' Stratton in the film National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). He had a recurring role as Vice President John Hoynes in the series The West Wing (1999–2006), earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He has directed episodes of many television series, including one of The West Wing.
His other credits include roles in Child's Play (2019) and as Doc Mullins in the series Virgin River (2019–), as well as directing episodes of Psych, Suits and Criminal Minds.
