Biography
Tonino Delli Colli was an Italian cinematographer. He began work at Rome's Cinecittà studios in 1938 and shot the first Italian colour film, Totò a colori (1952).
His long career included collaborations with Pier Paolo Pasolini (twelve films, among them Accattone (1961), Mamma Roma (1962) and Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1976)), Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) and Once Upon a Time in America (1984)), Federico Fellini and others. Later credits include The Name of the Rose (1986), Bitter Moon (1992) and Death and the Maiden (1994). His final film was Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful (1997), for which he received a David di Donatello award. He died in Rome in 2005.
