Biography
Tony Wharmby is a British-born American television director and producer. He was born Philip Anthony Wharmby on 1 November 1940 in Southampton, Hampshire, England. He began his career directing episodes of the British soap opera Coronation Street in 1968 and went on to direct and produce numerous UK series, including Dempsey and Makepeace (1985).
Wharmby later worked extensively in American television. He directed episodes of Miami Vice (1984), JAG, The X-Files (2000–2002; also serving as producer on several), Providence, Without a Trace, Supernatural, The O.C., Bones (where he was co-executive producer), Gossip Girl and multiple episodes of the NCIS franchise. He is the father-in-law of composer Debbie Wiseman.
