Biography
Yves Bélanger is a Canadian cinematographer. Born on 7 July 1960 in Saint-Jean-d'Iberville, Quebec, he studied film at Concordia University, graduating with a BFA in 1984. He began working as a cinematographer in 1989, initially on music videos and advertising before moving into film and television in the mid-1990s.
Bélanger is known for his collaborations with director Jean-Marc Vallée on Dallas Buyers Club (2013), Wild (2014), Demolition (2016), Big Little Lies (2017) and Sharp Objects (2018). He has also worked with Clint Eastwood on The Mule (2018), Richard Jewell (2019) and Juror #2 (2024). Other credits include Brooklyn (2015), for which he received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Cinematography in 2016, Long Shot (2019) and Arrival (2016, second unit).
