Biography
Angelo Rizzoli was an Italian publisher and film producer. Born in Milan on 31 October 1889, he began as a printer and built a major publishing house before turning to cinema in the 1950s through companies including Cineriz.
He produced or co-produced several notable Italian films, including Vittorio De Sica’s Umberto D. (1952), Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960) and 8½ (1963), and Michelangelo Antonioni’s Red Desert (1964). He also backed the popular Don Camillo comedy series. Rizzoli received the Nastro d’Argento for best producer for 8½ in 1964.
