Biography
Anthony B. Richmond (also credited as Tony Richmond or Anthony Richmond) is an English cinematographer. Born in London in 1942, he began his career as a messenger at Associated British Cinemas and Pathé News before progressing through the camera department. He worked as an assistant cameraman on films including From Russia with Love (1963), Dr. Zhivago (1965) and Fahrenheit 451 (1966).
Richmond collaborated frequently with director Nicolas Roeg, serving as cinematographer on Don't Look Now (1973), for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography, The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and Bad Timing (1980). His other credits include The Eagle Has Landed (1976), Candyman (1992), Legally Blonde (2001), A Cinderella Story (2004) and several entries in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers and the American Society of Cinematographers, and received the BSC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024. He also directed the 1985 feature Déjà Vu.
