Biography
Antxón Gómez is a Spanish production designer and art director. Born in San Sebastián in 1952, he moved to Barcelona in the mid-1970s after briefly studying chemistry. He began working in advertising before entering film in 1993 as art director on Bigas Luna's Golden Balls.
Gómez has had a long collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar, serving as production designer or art director on films including All About My Mother (1999), Talk to Her (2002), Bad Education (2004), The Skin I Live In (2011), Pain and Glory (2019) and Parallel Mothers (2021). He also worked with Steven Soderbergh as production designer on Che: Part One (2008) and Che: Part Two (2008).
He received the Goya Award for Best Art Direction for Che: Part One and the European Film Award for Best Production Design for Pain and Glory.
