Biography
Anya Adams is a Canadian-American television director. Born in Vancouver, she began her career in the nonprofit sector with the global citizen programme Up With People before entering the film industry. She trained through the Directors Guild of America trainee programme in Los Angeles, working on series including Boomtown and The Practice, and later as a DGA member on shows such as black-ish, The Mindy Project and The West Wing.
Adams directed her first short film, Lemonade Mafia, in 2016. She has directed episodes of numerous series, including Yellowjackets (2021–), Bridgerton (2020–), Ginny & Georgia (2021–), The Expanse (2015–), The Good Place (2016–), GLOW (2017–) and black-ish (2014–). She won NAACP Image Awards for outstanding directing in a comedy series for episodes of GLOW (2020) and black-ish (2021). She also directed the feature Prom Pact (2023) and episodes of North of North (2025).
