Biography
Lynn Shelton (27 August 1965 – 15 May 2020) was an American film and television director, screenwriter and producer. She was born in Oberlin, Ohio, and raised in Seattle. She studied at Oberlin College, the University of Washington School of Drama and the School of Visual Arts in New York, initially working as a film editor and making experimental shorts before directing her first feature, We Go Way Back, in 2006.
Shelton wrote and directed several independent films, including Humpday (2009) and Your Sister's Sister (2011). She was associated with the mumblecore movement. Later features included Laggies (2014) and Sword of Trust (2019). She also directed episodes of television series such as Mad Men (2010), New Girl, Shameless, GLOW and The Morning Show.
