Biography

Balazs Bolygo is a Hungarian-born cinematographer raised in England. He began his career in the film industry as a teenager, working as a clapper loader and focus puller before training at the National Film and Television School. He is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers, where he has served on the board of governors, and the Hungarian Cinematographers Association.

Bolygo's credits include director of photography on the BBC series Life on Mars (2006), Hustle (2004), Doctor Who (2005), Toast (2010), Anatomy of a Scandal (2022) and The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022). He has also worked on features such as It's All Gone Pete Tong (2004) and Centurion (2010). He has won an American Society of Cinematographers Award for Hunted (2012) and received BAFTA nominations and Royal Television Society awards for his television work.
