Biography

Blythe Danner is an American actress. Born on 3 February 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Bard College and began her career in theatre. She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her Broadway performance in Butterflies Are Free (1969–1972).

Danner has worked extensively in film and television. She appeared in three films directed by Woody Allen: Another Woman (1988), Alice (1990) and Husbands and Wives (1992), playing Rain's mother in the last. She is known for portraying Dina Byrnes in the Meet the Parents series (2000–2010) and for two Primetime Emmy Awards for her role in the series Huff (2004–2006).

She is the mother of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and director Jake Paltrow.
