Biography

Brigitte Broch is a German-born Mexican production designer. Born on 21 November 1943 in Köslin, Pomerania (now Koszalin, Poland), she moved to Mexico in 1968 and became a naturalised Mexican citizen.

She has worked as production designer or art director on films including Cronos (1993), Romeo + Juliet (1996), Amores Perros (2000), Moulin Rouge! (2001), 21 Grams (2003), Babel (2006), The Reader (2008), Biutiful (2010) and Safe House (2012). She received an Academy Award nomination for art direction on Romeo + Juliet and won the award (shared) for Moulin Rouge!, becoming the first Mexican woman to win an Oscar for production design.
