Biography
Carol Littleton is an American film editor. Born on 23 October 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she studied literature at the University of Oklahoma before entering the industry. In the 1970s she ran a production company making commercials and began editing feature films with director Karen Arthur on Legacy (1975).
Littleton is known for her long collaboration with Lawrence Kasdan, beginning with Body Heat (1981) and continuing on several of his films, including The Big Chill (1983), Silverado (1985) and Wyatt Earp (1994). She edited Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Other credits include Places in the Heart (1984), The Accidental Tourist (1988), The Manchurian Candidate (2004) and The Other Boleyn Girl (2008). She won a Primetime Emmy Award for editing the television film Tuesdays with Morrie (1999) and received an Honorary Academy Award in 2024. Littleton served as president of the Motion Picture Editors Guild from 1988 to 1991. She was married to cinematographer John Bailey from 1972 until his death in 2023.
