Biography
Kathleen Turner is an American actress, also credited as Mary Kathleen Turner. Born on 19 June 1954 in Springfield, Missouri, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1977 after earlier studies at Southwest Missouri State University. She made her stage debut off-Broadway and on Broadway in 1977, followed by her television debut as Nola Dancy Aldrich in the NBC soap opera The Doctors (1978–1979).
Turner rose to prominence with her portrayal of Matty Walker in Body Heat (1981). She worked in films throughout the 1980s including The Man with Two Brains (1983), Romancing the Stone (1984), Prizzi's Honor (1985), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) and The War of the Roses (1989). She played Mrs Lisbon in The Virgin Suicides (2000).
Her later credits include Serial Mom (1994), Marley & Me (2008) and Dumb and Dumber To (2014). Voice roles include Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Constance in Monster House (2006) and characters in The Simpsons, Family Guy and Rick and Morty. She has guest-starred in Friends (2001) as Charles Bing and in The Kominsky Method (2019–2021).
