Biography

Christopher McQuarrie is an American screenwriter, film director and producer. He was born on 25 October 1968 in Princeton Junction, New Jersey.

He received the Academy Award, BAFTA Award and Independent Spirit Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Usual Suspects (1995). He made his directorial debut with The Way of the Gun (2000).

McQuarrie has frequently collaborated with Tom Cruise. He wrote and directed Jack Reacher (2012) and four Mission: Impossible films: Rogue Nation (2015), Fallout (2018), Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) and The Final Reckoning (2025). He also contributed to the screenplays or production of Valkyrie (2008), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016), The Mummy (2017) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
