Biography

Clay A. Griffith is an American production designer and set decorator. He entered the film industry as an art department assistant on Something Wild (1986), with assistance from his half-sister, actress Melanie Griffith. His early credits as set decorator include Dirty Dancing (1987), Se7en (1995), Jerry Maguire (1996) and As Good as It Gets (1997).

Griffith made his debut as production designer on Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous (2000) and has maintained a long collaboration with the director across several films and the series Roadies. His production design credits include We Bought a Zoo (2011), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016), Dolemite Is My Name (2019), Greenland (2020) and Song Sung Blue (2025). He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 1998.
