Biography
Deborah Nadoolman Landis is an American costume designer, author and professor. She graduated with an MFA in costume design from UCLA in 1975 and later earned a PhD in the history of design from the Royal College of Art in London.
She is known for her work on films including National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Trading Places (1983), An American Werewolf in London (1981), ¡Three Amigos! (1986) and Coming to America (1988), the last of which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Many early credits appear under the name Deborah Nadoolman. She served two terms as president of the Costume Designers Guild.
Landis is married to director John Landis and has written and edited several books on costume design. She is a distinguished professor at UCLA and founding director of the David C. Copley Center for the Study of Costume Design.
