Biography
Dennis McCarthy is an American composer of television and film scores. Born on 3 July 1945, he has contributed music to numerous series and films, with extensive work on the Star Trek franchise.
McCarthy composed music for 77 episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–99), for which he wrote the main title theme and won a Primetime Emmy Award. He also scored episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise, as well as the feature film Star Trek: Generations (1994). His other television credits include MacGyver, Dawson's Creek and Dynasty.
McCarthy has received 18 ASCAP awards and nine additional Emmy nominations for his Star Trek work. He has also composed for stage productions and produced the album Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back by Brent Spiner.
