Biography
Gordon Jennings (1896–1953) was an American cinematographer and special effects artist. He began working in Hollywood in 1919 as a camera assistant and contributed to the visual and special effects of more than 180 films from 1932 until his death.
Jennings received seven Academy Awards, principally for Best Special Effects, and was nominated for eight more. His credits include special effects on Stalag 17 (1953), A Place in the Sun (1951), I Married a Witch (1942), Sorry, Wrong Number (1948) and For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943). He also worked as cinematographer on Our Hospitality (1923). His older brother was cinematographer Devereaux Jennings.
