Biography
Gordon T. Dawson was an American writer, producer and former wardrobe supervisor. He began his film career in the costume department before collaborating extensively with director Sam Peckinpah on The Wild Bunch (1969), The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970), The Getaway (1972), Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973) and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974), where he also served as associate producer and co-wrote the screenplay.
Dawson wrote for numerous television series from the late 1960s onwards, including episodes of Bonanza, Lou Grant and nine episodes of The Rockford Files (1975–1979). He created and wrote all 18 episodes of the 1981–1982 series Bret Maverick, and later wrote 32 episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001) while serving as supervising producer and co-executive producer. Other credits include Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Silk Stalkings and Diagnosis: Murder. He received Western Writers of America Spur awards and Western Heritage Wrangler awards, and was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award for the 1999 telefilm Purgatory.
