Biography
Jeanette MacDonald was an American actress and singer. She was born Jeannette Anna McDonald on 18 June 1903 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died on 14 January 1965 in Houston, Texas.
MacDonald made her film debut as Queen Louise in the 1929 musical The Love Parade. She starred in 29 feature films during the 1930s and 1940s, including Love Me Tonight (1932), One Hour with You (1932), The Merry Widow (1934) and San Francisco (1936). She appeared frequently with Maurice Chevalier and Nelson Eddy. Four of her films received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture.
She also performed in opera, concerts, radio and television, and recorded extensively.
