Biography
Jesper Christensen is a Danish actor born on 16 May 1948 in Copenhagen. He began his career on stage in the late 1960s and appeared in Danish films and television from the mid-1970s, with early screen credits including Strømer (1976).
He is known internationally for playing the villain Mr White in the James Bond films Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008) and Spectre (2015). Other English-language roles include Nils Lud in The Interpreter (2005), Baron Stockmar in The Young Victoria (2009) and Dieter Vogel in The Debt (2010). He has also appeared in Melancholia (2011) and Nymphomaniac: Vol. I (2013), and as Michael in Sentimental Value (2025).
In Denmark, Christensen has received four Bodil Awards: three for Best Actor, for Did Somebody Laugh? (1978), The Bench (2000) and Manslaughter (2005), and one for Best Supporting Actor in Barbara (1997). In 2006 he declined the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog.
