Biography
John George (born Tufei Filhela or Fatella; also credited as Tufei Filhela and جون جورج) was a Syrian-American actor. He was born on 20 January 1898 in Aleppo, Syria, and died on 25 August 1968 in Los Angeles, California.
George appeared in numerous films from 1916 onwards, often in uncredited bit parts, including as Cojo in The Unknown (1927) and as a cultist (uncredited) in The Black Cat (1934). He worked with Lon Chaney in several silent films and continued in both cinema and television into the 1960s, with roles such as uncredited appearances in Singin' in the Rain (1952), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and episodes of Bonanza.
