Biography

John Mankiewicz is an American television writer and producer. Born on 18 February 1954 in New York City, he is the son of screenwriter Don Mankiewicz and grandson of Herman J. Mankiewicz, who co-wrote Citizen Kane.

He began writing for series including Hill Street Blues (1981) and Miami Vice (1984), later contributing episodes to House (2004) as writer, story and teleplay. He has also written for The Mentalist, House of Cards (2013) and Bosch (2015), and served as producer or executive producer on several of these programmes. He co-created the series Interrogation (2020) and occasionally writes for The New Yorker.
