Biography
John Wilson is a British film and television editor. He studied graphic design in Portsmouth before beginning his career editing documentaries at the Central Office of Information, where he met director Peter Greenaway and began a long collaboration that included The Draughtsman's Contract (1982), A Zed & Two Noughts (1985), Drowning by Numbers (1988) and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989).
Wilson has edited more than fifty feature films and television productions. His credits include Billy Elliot (2000), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Editing, The History Boys (2006), The Book Thief (2013), Me Before You (2016) and thirteen episodes of Downton Abbey. In 2018 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts by Solent University, where he is a visiting fellow.
