Biography
Jonathan Groff is an American actor and singer. He made his Broadway debut in the musical In My Life (2005) and originated the role of Melchior Gabor in Spring Awakening (2006), for which he received a Tony Award nomination.
Groff is known for his stage work as King George III in the original Broadway production of Hamilton (2015), earning a Tony Award nomination and a Grammy Award for the cast recording. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for playing Franklin Shepard in the 2023 revival of Merrily We Roll Along. On screen, he voiced Kristoff in Frozen (2013) and reprised the role in Frozen II (2019), and has appeared in films including American Sniper (2014), The Matrix Resurrections (2021) and Knock at the Cabin (2023). His television roles include Jesse St. James in Glee (2009–2015), Patrick Murray in Looking (2014–2015) and Holden Ford in Mindhunter (2017–2019).
