Biography

Julia Cho is an American playwright and screenwriter. She was born on 5 July 1975 in Los Angeles, California.

Cho studied English at Amherst College and the University of California, Berkeley, and completed dramatic writing programmes at New York University and the Juilliard School. She has written episodes for the television series Fringe (2008), Big Love (2006), Betrayal (2013) and Halt and Catch Fire (2014).

Her screenwriting credits include the Pixar animated features Turning Red (2022) and Elio (2025). In 2020 she received the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize for drama.
