Biography
Justin Hurwitz is an American composer and television writer. Born on 22 January 1985 in Los Angeles, California, he attended Harvard University, where he met director Damien Chazelle.
He is best known for his long collaboration with Chazelle, composing the scores for Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (2009), Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016), First Man (2018) and Babylon (2022). For La La Land he won two Academy Awards, for Best Original Score and Best Original Song ('City of Stars'), as well as Golden Globe and BAFTA awards. He has also written for the television series The Simpsons (2011), The League and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
