Biography

Marc Evan Platt is an American film, theatre and television producer. Born on 14 April 1957 in Pikesville, Maryland, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and New York University School of Law before beginning his career as an entertainment attorney. He later served as president of production at Orion Pictures, TriStar Pictures and Universal Pictures, and subsequently founded Marc Platt Productions.

Platt has produced numerous feature films, including Legally Blonde (2001), Drive (2011), La La Land (2016), Cruella (2021), Babylon (2022), The Little Mermaid (2023), Wicked (2024) and Wicked: For Good (2025). He has also produced stage musicals, notably the long-running Broadway production of Wicked, as well as other theatre works.

His productions have earned four Tony Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and a BAFTA Award, along with four Academy Award nominations for Best Picture.
