Biography
Majel Barrett (also credited as M. Leigh Hudec and Majel Barrett Roddenberry) was an American actress. She appeared in the original Star Trek pilot as Number One and as Nurse Christine Chapel in the series (1966–1969). She reprised the role, now as Dr. Christine Chapel, in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) and as Commander Chapel in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
Barrett voiced the onboard computer in multiple Star Trek series and films from 1966 to 2009. She played Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999). She married Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1969; they had one son, Rod Roddenberry. After his death in 1991 she served as executive producer on the series Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda.
