Biography
Marcia Jean Kurtz is an American actress and director. She was born on 11 February 1942 in The Bronx, New York City, New York, USA, and graduated from the Juilliard School in 1964 with a B.S. in dance.
She is known for film roles including Rae in Requiem for a Dream (2000), Miriam Douglas in Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and Inside Man (2006), Max's Mother in Once Upon a Time in America (1984), the Admissions Desk Woman in The Wrestler (2008), Costumer Georgina in Black Swan (2010), Rose in Tower Heist (2011), the Thief in mother! (2017), and Edna Brimley in The Blacklist (2013). She has appeared multiple times on the television series Law & Order.
On stage, Kurtz won an Obie Award for her performance as Doris in The Loman Family Picnic. She received nominations for an Obie Award and a Drama Desk Award for her role in When She Danced. She has also directed productions including Uncle Phillip's Coat and Time of Fire.
