Biography
Mark Snow was an American composer for film and television. Born Martin Fulterman in Brooklyn, New York, on 26 August 1946, he trained at the Juilliard School and performed in the New York Rock & Roll Ensemble with Michael Kamen before moving to Los Angeles in 1974, where he adopted the professional name Mark Snow.
He composed the theme and incidental music for the series The X-Files (1993–2002, with revivals), as well as its feature films The X-Files (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008). Snow also scored other series including Smallville (2001), Ghost Whisperer (2005), Blue Bloods (2010) and One Tree Hill (2003), and earlier programmes such as Hart to Hart and Starsky & Hutch. He received 15 Emmy nominations over his career.
Snow died on 4 July 2025 at his home in Connecticut, aged 78.
