Biography
Masanobu Takayanagi is a Japanese cinematographer. Born on 17 February 1974 in Gunma Prefecture, he was raised in Tomioka and later moved to the United States, where he studied at California State University, Long Beach, and graduated from the AFI Conservatory in 2002.
Takayanagi began working as a director of photography on feature films in 2011 with Meet Monica Velour and The Grey. His credits include Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Spotlight (2015), Black Mass (2015), Hostiles (2017), The Pale Blue Eye (2022) and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (2025). He has collaborated repeatedly with director Scott Cooper. Takayanagi was named one of Variety's "10 Cinematographers to Watch" in 2012 and became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers in 2015.
