Biography
Melissa Bruning is an American costume designer. She was born on 6 October 1971 in Syracuse, New York, and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She holds a BFA in technical theatre from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an MFA in costume design from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Bruning has designed costumes for films including Wild (2014), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), Rampage (2018) and Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021). She was nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Contemporary Film for her work on Wild. Her television credits include Black Monday and Bosch: Legacy. She has also directed short films.
