Biography
Michael Crichton was an American writer and filmmaker, also credited as John Lange. Born in Chicago on 23 October 1942, he earned an MD from Harvard Medical School in 1969 but chose not to practise medicine and instead focused on writing.
He published his first novel under his own name, The Andromeda Strain, in 1969. His later works included the novel Jurassic Park (1990). Crichton co-wrote the screenplay for the 1993 film adaptation and directed Westworld (1973). He created the television series ER. Crichton died on 4 November 2008.
