Biography
Michael Smith, also credited as Mike Smith or Michael I. Smith, is an American television director and producer. He began his career in the mid-1990s as a second assistant director on films including Everyone Says I Love You (1996), Gloria (1999), Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) and Man on the Moon (2001), and worked on series such as The Sopranos and Hack.
Smith's first directing credit came in 2007 on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, where he had previously served as first assistant director, co-producer and unit production manager. He has since directed episodes of Suits, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, White Collar, Burn Notice, How to Get Away with Murder, Bull, Manifest and the revived Law & Order series. He has also worked as a producer or co-executive producer on several Law & Order programmes and other series.
A University of Michigan alumnus, Smith is based in New York and New Jersey.
