Biography
Mike Scully is an American television writer and producer. Born on 2 October 1956 in West Springfield, Massachusetts, he grew up there and developed an early interest in writing. After dropping out of college, he moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1980s, where he worked as a stand-up comic and wrote jokes for comedian Yakov Smirnoff before entering television.
Scully joined the writing staff of The Simpsons in 1993. He wrote twelve episodes for the series, including "Lisa on Ice" and "Team Homer", and served as showrunner and executive producer for seasons 9 to 12 (1997–2001). He co-wrote and co-produced The Simpsons Movie (2007) and has continued as a producer on the series. He has won multiple Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on the show.
Scully has written for other series including Everybody Loves Raymond (1996) and Parks and Recreation (2009). He co-created Duncanville (2020) with his wife, Julie Thacker, and Amy Poehler, and has worked on projects such as The Carmichael Show (2015) and Shifting Gears (2025).
