Biography
Nobuyuki Yasumaru was a Japanese monster modelling artist and sculptor who worked as a costume designer and suitmaker on numerous Toho kaiju films. He joined Toho in the early 1960s and began creating suits in 1967, later serving as the studio’s chief modeler from 1971 to 1991.
His credits include costume design on Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964), Son of Godzilla (1967) and All Monsters Attack (1969), as well as later entries in the Godzilla series such as Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971), Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) and The Return of Godzilla (1984). He also contributed modelling and prosthetics work to films including King Kong Escapes (1967).
