Biography
Peter François Cellier (born 12 July 1928) is an English actor who has appeared in film, stage and television. He began his career at the Leatherhead Theatre in 1953 and has worked in seasons at Stratford-upon-Avon, the Old Vic and the Chichester Festival Theatre; he was a founder member of the National Theatre.
Cellier is known for his role as Sir Frank Gordon in the BBC sitcoms Yes Minister (1980–1984) and Yes, Prime Minister (1986–1987), and as the Major in Keeping Up Appearances (1990–1991). His film appearances include Barry Lyndon (1975), Chariots of Fire (1981), A Room with a View (1986), Howards End (1992) and The Remains of the Day (1993). He has also appeared in Doctor Who (as Andrews), Midsomer Murders and Clockwise (1986).
He is the son of actors Frank Cellier and Phyllis Shannaw.
