Biography
Rupert Graves is an English actor. He was born on 30 June 1963 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. After leaving school at 16, he worked briefly as a circus clown before beginning his acting career on stage.
Graves first came to prominence in adaptations of E. M. Forster novels, playing Freddy Honeychurch in A Room with a View (1985) and Alec Scudder in Maurice (1987). He appeared as Greville in The Madness of King George (1994) and as Martyn Fleming in Damage (1992). His performance in Intimate Relations (1996) won the Best Actor award at the Montreal World Film Festival. He is also known for roles in V for Vendetta (2006) and Emma. (2020).
On television, Graves played DI Greg Lestrade in the BBC series Sherlock (2010–2017) and appeared in Doctor Who (2012) and 12 Monkeys (2015–2016).
