Biography
Stephen Greenhorn is a Scottish playwright and screenwriter. Born on 5 September 1964 in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, he created the BBC Scotland soap opera River City (2002–).
His television work includes episodes of The Bill, Doctor Who (2007–2008), the miniseries Marchlands (2011), Dalgliesh (2021) and Around the World in 80 Days (2021). He wrote the screenplay for the film Sunshine on Leith (2013) and episodes of the Netflix series Dept. Q (2025).
Greenhorn’s stage plays, including Passing Places (1997), have been produced by companies across the UK.
