Biography
Stuart McQuarrie is a Scottish actor born on 19 March 1963 in Edinburgh. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and has performed extensively in theatre across the UK, including productions with the National Theatre of Scotland.
McQuarrie is known for film roles including Gavin in Trainspotting (1996), Sergeant Farrell in 28 Days Later (2002), and appearances in Mr. Turner (2014), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) and White Bird (2024). On television he has played Tim Baird in Outlander (2014), George Thomson in The Crown (2016), Lunden in Foundation (2021), and DCI Jim Fedden in The Tower (2021–2024), among others. He is also credited as Mr. Jenkins in the 2026 series Half Man.
