Biography
Takeo Kita (also credited as Kita Takeo or Takee Kita) was a Japanese production designer and art director. Born on 9 January 1907 in Osaka Prefecture, he died on 1 September 1979.
Kita worked extensively for Toho on tokusatsu and kaiju films, often in collaboration with director Ishirō Honda. He is credited as production designer on Godzilla (1954), Godzilla Raids Again (1955), King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962), Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964), Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964), Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965), Son of Godzilla (1967) and Destroy All Monsters (1968), among many others. He also served as a producer and held executive positions at Toho, including as president of Toho Built.
His career spanned more than four decades, beginning as an assistant at Photo Chemical Laboratory, Toho's predecessor. He was the older brother of fellow production designer Tatsuo Kita.
