Biography

Thomas E. Sanders, also credited as Tom Sanders, was an American production designer. He was born in 1953 in San Pedro, California, and died on 6 July 2017.

Sanders received two Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction, for Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). His production design credits include Braveheart (1995), Mission: Impossible II (2000), Apocalypto (2006), Crimson Peak (2015) and Star Trek Beyond (2016). He began working in film around 1990 after a background in furniture design and set construction.

In 2026, Sanders was posthumously inducted into the Art Directors Guild Hall of Fame.
