Biography
Tony Plana, also credited as José Antonio Plana, is a Cuban-American actor and director. Born in Havana, Cuba, he moved to the United States as a child and graduated from Loyola Marymount University. He trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Plana is known for his role as Ignacio Suarez in the television series Ugly Betty (2006–2010), for which he received a Satellite Award. Other credits include appearances in Pain & Gain (2013), Bombshell (2019), Primal Fear (1996), JFK (1991) and the miniseries White House Plumbers (2023). He voiced Manny Calavera in the video game Grim Fandango (1998).
He has appeared in numerous other television series including The Blacklist, The Punisher and Only Murders in the Building. Plana founded East L.A. Classic Theatre and has directed stage productions.
