Biography
Wilfried Basse, also credited as Wilhelm-Friedrich Heinrich Hermann Basse, was a German documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. He was born on 17 August 1899 in Hanover and died on 6 June 1946 in Berlin.
Basse began making short films in the late 1920s and founded Basse Film GmbH. He directed and photographed works including Markt in Berlin (1929) and Deutschland zwischen gestern und heute (1932/1934). He served as one of the cinematographers on Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia Part One: Festival of the Nations (1938) and Olympia Part Two: Festival of Beauty (1938), and later produced educational and sports films.
