Biography
William Benedict (16 April 1917 – 25 November 1999) was an American actor. Born in Haskell, Oklahoma, he began his film career in 1935 with $10 Raise and appeared in numerous juvenile bit parts as newsboys, messengers and office boys.
In the early 1940s he joined the East Side Kids series and continued with its successor, the Bowery Boys, playing Whitey in 24 films from 1946 to 1951. He maintained a long career in supporting roles, including uncredited appearances in The Talk of the Town (1942), The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), Funny Girl (1968) and The Sting (1973), as well as television work and commercials.
