Biography
William Cronjager (1930–1995) was an American cinematographer who worked primarily in television. Born in Queens, New York, he came from a family of cinematographers that included his father Henry Cronjager Jr, uncle Edward Cronjager and grandfather Henry Cronjager. He began his career as an assistant cameraman on films including Oh, Men! Oh, Women! (1957) and The Hustler (1961).
Cronjager moved to television in the 1960s and served as director of photography on series such as the final seasons of Peyton Place (1967–1969), Columbo, Hart to Hart and The Dukes of Hazzard. He shot 27 episodes of Hill Street Blues (1981–1982), winning a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Series for the pilot "Hill Street Station". His later credits included one episode of Miami Vice (1985) and several television films; his final work was the 1988 TV movie Broken Angel.
