Biography
Georg Stanford Brown is a Cuban-American actor and director. Born on 24 June 1943 in Havana, Cuba, he trained at Los Angeles City College and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He began acting in the 1960s with roles in films including Bullitt (1968) and How to Steal a Million (1966), and on television series such as Mission: Impossible.
Brown gained prominence as Officer Terry Webster in the ABC series The Rookies (1972–76). He later appeared as Tom Harvey in the miniseries Roots (1977) and Roots: The Next Generations (1979), and as Rory Schultebrand in Stir Crazy (1980). He has also had recurring roles in North & South (1985) and Nip/Tuck (2003).
As a director, Brown has helmed episodes of Hill Street Blues (1981–86), Miami Vice (1984–85), Magnum, P.I. (1980) and Police Squad! (1982). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for an episode of Cagney & Lacey in 1986.
